MOP PROJECTS 2012

Stephanie Quirk’s installation consists of multiple, brightly coloured cone-like shapes of various sizes placed on the floor and walls of the gallery. This artificial and psychedelic landscape captivates the viewer: immediate sensations of delight and feelings of being in the present moment are brought on by the experience of uninhibited and celebratory colour. The installation has an irreverent, childlike quality that invites the viewer to suspend disbelief and play in these miniature bubble-gum coloured mountains. It is an imaginary sublime space, filled with humour and the enchantment of a fairytale.
